Goodbye S90? Volvo’s Updated Sedan Faces A Limited Future
by AutoExpert | 17 April, 2025
Volvo just updated the S90 sedan, but you might not even get a chance to buy one, depending on where you live. The updated Volvo S90 brings a refreshed look and better infotainment system, but unfortunately, it's mostly aimed at Asian markets, with countries like the US, UK, and France already cutting ties with the model.
The S90’s update takes cues from the XC90’s recent facelift, including slimmer Thor’s Hammer LED headlights that now stretch across the front, a new grille, and revamped bumpers and fenders. The alloy wheels are also updated with a sleek, diamond-cut design, and even the taillights get a makeover.

Inside, Volvo’s given the S90 a larger 11.2-inch media screen, plus over-the-air (OTA) updates, so you won’t have to go to the dealership as often. The cabin is quieter too, thanks to better sound insulation and the addition of adaptive suspension for a smoother ride.

As for what’s under the hood, you’ve got a couple of options depending on where you live. There’s a 2.0-liter mild-hybrid engine that powers the front wheels or a 2.0-liter plug-in hybrid that sends power to all four wheels and offers a 50-mile electric-only range. For full electric, though, you’ll need to look at the new ES90, but that might also be unavailable in the US due to the ongoing tariff situation.

It's a shame, because the update is pretty nice. Would you miss the Volvo S90 if it’s gone for good, or are you more interested in Volvo’s shift to electric and SUV models?
