Golden Tribute: Rolls-Royce Unveils Goldfinger Phantom In Cinematic Style

To celebrate Goldfinger’s 60th anniversary, Rolls-Royce has created a remarkable one-off Phantom that honors one of cinema’s most iconic villains. This modern tribute revives Auric Goldfinger’s signature 1937 Phantom III, which sported a striking yellow-and-black color scheme.

Rolls-Royce’s new Phantom Extended replicates that unmistakable look, complete with the vivid yellow paint, a black roof and hood, and vintage-style black and silver wheels. The famed Spirit of Ecstasy mascot, a nod to Goldfinger's obsession with the precious metal, receives a luxurious twist with an 18-carat gold plating.

Inside, Rolls-Royce packed in plenty Goldfinger references. A secret compartment conceals an 18-carat gold bar, shaped like a Phantom speedform, which is the most notable feature. The storage boxes, glove compartment, and front and rear consoles also feature gold finishes. The glovebox itself even features a quote from Goldfinger himself, professing his love for gold’s “divine heaviness.”

Gold-themed touches extend to the door sills, designed to look like gold bars, and there’s a gold-plated golf club in the trunk—a nod to the match Goldfinger and Bond played in the movie. The car's 24-carat gold VIN plate ends in "007" for added magic. Pleasant surprises pepper this Phantom's design, including a fictional Fort Knox map in 22-carat gold inlay on the picnic tables, a Furka Pass topography map on the dashboard, and a custom starlight headliner that replicates the stars' positions on the final day of Goldfinger filming at Furka Pass in July 1964.

Rolls-Royce even secured the original AU1 registration plate—chemistry’s symbol for gold—as the final touch of movie-inspired vehicle. While Rolls-Royce hasn’t disclosed the price of this collectible masterpiece, it’s already in the hands of a dedicated marque collector in the UK.
