Ford's Affordable Entry-Level Sales: Maverick XL, Ranger XL, and Bronco Sport Big Bend Sales Surge in Latest Report
by AutoExpert | 4 December, 2025
New cars aren’t cheap now, and anything over $50k pushes people toward the entry-level models.
Ford says it noticed that shift in a big way last month. Interest in its entry-level models jumped, pushing combined sales of the Maverick XL, Ranger XL, and Bronco Sport Big Bend up 26.4%. And it’s not just a one-month thing—those trims are up 12.7% so far this year.

The Maverick had a huge month. Sales were up 43.3%, and most of that came from the XL trim, which surged 76.2%. With a whole month still left, the Maverick has already broken its yearly sales record.
The Ranger also had a strong showing, climbing 35.8%, helped by a big jump in the XL version.
And over on the SUV side, the Explorer had its best November since 2018, with 20,226 sold. The entry-level Active trim jumped 60.7%, and the ST-Line also climbed 68.5%.

Ford says these more affordable models helped it stay afloat while the rest of the market slowed down due to high prices and cooling EV demand after federal tax credits expired. Ford’s sales dipped just 0.9% in November, while the industry as a whole fell about 7%. The company still managed to snag an extra 0.5% market share.
Of course, “affordable” has changed a lot. When the Maverick came out in 2021, it started at $19,995 before fees. Today, it’s $27,145 before destination—a $7,350 jump in just over four years. Even so, it’s still the cheapest pickup you can buy in the U.S.
