Ford V-10 Makes A Classic Lincoln Continental Roar With Nearly 500 Horsepower

If you’ve ever wondered what happens when you try to cram a Ford V-10 into a Lincoln Continental, a pair of engineers from the Build It Yourself YouTube channel are here to show you. Spoiler alert: it didn’t blow up, but it certainly did get interesting.
The engine they’ve shoehorned into the classic Continental is a Ford Triton V-10—single overhead cam, but with custom dual-cam heads and beefed-up springs and valves to squeeze out some serious power. A six-speed Mustang transmission sends all that grunt to the rear wheels, just to make sure the Continental gets moving with some real attitude.
So, how much power are we talking about? After the first two dyno pulls, they saw 448 and 453 horsepower at the wheels. But once they pushed the engine past 7,000 rpm, the numbers jumped—491 horsepower to be exact. By the final run, the Lincoln Continental was cranking out 495 hp and 402 lb-ft of torque at the wheels. If you’re curious about crank numbers, that’s roughly 600 hp and 490 lb-ft.
However, the real goal is hitting 700 horsepower. Sadly, the Lincoln’s fuel system loses pressure above 6,000 rpm, but bigger injectors and a stronger pump should fix it. We’re definitely excited to see where this project goes, especially since this beast is just getting started. Who doesn’t want to see a Lincoln Continental with the soul of a muscle car?
