Ford’s New Electric Van Is Built for the City… and the Price Shows It
by AutoExpert | 30 March, 2026
Ford is adding a new electric van to its European lineup with the Transit City, aimed at urban delivery work.
There is a twist, though. It is not a ground-up Ford design. Instead, the Transit City is closely related to the JMC Touring, built by Ford’s partner Jiangling Motors in China. It is also produced there, which helps keep costs down.

As a result, the pricing should land lower. While official numbers are not out yet, it is expected to sit close to the E-Transit Courier, which starts around €34,800. That puts it well below the larger E Transit Custom, which sits near €47,000.
To reach that price, Ford keeps things simple. There are no options, just a fixed spec. Even so, it covers the basics, including a 12.3-inch screen, manual air conditioning, a heated driver seat, a rear camera, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Underneath, the new Ford Transit City uses a front-mounted motor with 148 hp and a 56 kWh LFP battery. That is smaller than the E Transit Custom, but it helps with payload. The long wheelbase version carries up to 1,275 kg, while the short wheelbase manages 1,085 kg. Cargo space reaches about 8 cubic meters in the larger model.
In terms of range, it is built for city use. The most efficient version reaches up to 158 miles on the WLTP cycle. Charging tops out at 87 kW, which adds about 31 miles in 10 minutes or takes it from 10 to 80 percent in 33 minutes.

Ford will offer three body styles: a short-wheelbase, low-roof; a long-wheelbase, taller van; and a chassis cab. That last option opens the door for conversions like box vans, dropside trucks, and refrigerated units.
Orders open this month, with deliveries in Europe expected later in the year.
