Ford Returns To Pikes Peak With 1,421-HP, Tri-Motor Mustang Mach-E

Ford is heading back to the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, and this time it’s bringing an all-electric Mustang Mach-E built specifically for the job. After winning last year with the 1,400-horsepower F-150 Lightning SuperTruck, Ford is hoping to repeat that success on June 22 with a machine that’s lighter, sharper, and even more powerful.
The new Mustang Mach-E hill climb racer packs three electric motors producing 1,421 horsepower—just edging out the SuperTruck and SuperVan, which each made 1,400 hp.

It's powered by a 50.0-kWh battery running at 799 volts, and the whole powertrain weighs 260 pounds less than last year’s setup. On top of that, regenerative braking can recapture up to 710 kilowatts.

Downforce is where this racer really shines. Thanks to a massive aero kit, it can generate 6,900 pounds of downforce at 150 mph and up to a wild 12,000 pounds at 200 mph!
That’s more than the SuperTruck (6,000 lbs) and far ahead of the SuperVan (4,400 lbs).

To keep everything planted through Pikes Peak’s 156 corners, the Mustang Mach-E runs forged magnesium wheels with sticky Pirelli P-Zero tires and carbon brakes.
Racing legend Romain Dumas is back behind the wheel. He won with Ford last year and holds the all-time Pikes Peak record from 2018. This will be his third climb with Ford and his 10th overall.

“This Mach-E is a different beast,” Dumas said. “We’re excited to see what it can do on the mountain.”
With Ford aiming to push EV limits even further and a proven driver at the helm, the stage is set for another serious shot at the top.
