A Luxury Minivan, Reimagined: Modellista Teases New Alphard Concept

Modellista, Toyota’s in-house tuning and styling brand, is getting ready to show something new at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2026. For now, it’s keeping things mysterious, releasing just one teaser image. What it does reveal is a sharp, dramatic lighting signature that flows straight into the front bumper. From the shape and proportions, it looks like the base vehicle is the latest Toyota Alphard.
According to Modellista, this minivan concept takes inspiration from the Embryo design study and is meant to appeal to all five senses. Big words, sure, but the idea seems to be about pushing style, presence, and atmosphere beyond what you normally expect from a luxury people mover.

The company describes it as a flagship-style concept, one that’s meant to point the way toward future production models. Modellista already sells full body kits for the current Alphard and its twin, the Vellfire, but this could signal a move into a more premium, more ambitious level of customization.
That’s not the only thing Modellista is bringing to the show. Alongside the minivan concept, the brand will also reveal a prototype model that’s expected to go on sale in the near future. This one appears to be based on the Lexus RX and features a body kit shaped around Modellista’s geometrical organic design theme.

Both vehicles will make their official debut at Modellista’s press conference at Makuhari Messe in Tokyo on January 9. Beyond the cars, Modellista will also have its lifestyle lineup on display. That includes items from the Modellista Collection like interior fragrances, a small teddy bear keychain, cleaning cloths, belt-style keychains, pins, and stickers.

Visitors who fill out a survey at the stand will get a free tote bag, while those who follow Modellista on Instagram can pick up a branded keychain styled like a license plate.
