Ford CEO Jim Farley Hints At $300K Off-Road Supercar With 1,000 HP

Ford CEO Jim Farley is looking beyond the usual playbook. He’s already pushing for cheaper EVs and leaner production, but his mind is drifting toward something bigger. Farley is now wondering what happens if Ford aims in the opposite direction—off the tarmac and into the dirt.
Speaking on Bloomberg’s Hot Pursuit podcast (set to air soon), Farley admitted he’s obsessed with an idea nobody has quite nailed yet: a supercar built for gravel, sand, and high-speed dirt. “No one’s ever built a supercar for gravel, high-speed sand, or dirt,” he said. “I’m thinking really deeply about it, and usually that turns into something.”

To put muscle behind the dream, he’s already asked his engineering team to sketch out a concept: a 1,000-horsepower, partially electric off-road monster. The inspiration comes straight from the success of Ford’s Raptor lineup. “These Raptor people are telling us something,” Farley explained. “They’re not stupid. They’re really smart people. They spent $120,000 on an 800-horsepower pickup truck.”

If it happens, the project would follow the same playbook as the Mustang GTD: ultra-high price, tiny production run, and serious bragging rights. For reference, the GTD is priced at $327,000, with only 300 units being built. Farley even hinted at a bigger goal for his dirt-slinging dream car: he’d like to see Ford tackle, and maybe even win, the Dakar Rally.
