First Look: Nissan NX8 Brings Long Wheelbase, Big Power, And Premium Tech
by AutoExpert | 11 December, 2025
Nissan is adding a new midsize SUV to its China lineup, developed together with Dongfeng and aimed at growing the brand’s family of electrified models. It’s called the NX8, and it sits alongside the N6 and N7 sedans as Nissan’s latest entry in the country’s fast-moving NEV segment.
For starters, the NX8 takes on a sharp, modern look. A single light bar stretches across the front and ties into the split headlights, creating a wraparound effect that continues into the fenders. The rear gets a similar treatment with OLED taillights running the width of the tailgate.

At 4,870 mm long and 1,920 mm wide, the Nissan NX8 is larger than the Rogue but still shorter than the Pathfinder. Interestingly, its wheelbase is actually slightly longer than the Pathfinder’s, which should give it better legroom inside. Nissan hasn’t shown the cabin yet, though it’s expected to follow the clean, screen-heavy layout used in the N6 and N7.
Test vehicles spotted in China reveal plenty of sensors, including a lidar unit on the roof, a strong hint that the NX8 will debut more advanced driver-assistance features than typical Nissan models in this segment.

Technical filings confirm several electrified powertrains. Two fully electric versions will be offered: one with 288 hp and another with 335 hp. A plug-in hybrid or range-extender setup will also be available, pairing a 1.5-liter turbo engine with an electric motor for a combined output of 262 hp. All versions use lithium iron phosphate batteries supplied by CATL. Nissan hasn’t shared range estimates yet, but the pack will support ultra-fast charging.

The Nissan NX8 is scheduled to reach the Chinese market in the first half of 2026. Following the pattern set by the N6 and N7, this new SUV is expected to be exported afterward, though it’s unclear whether it will reach Europe.
Pricing will be announced closer to launch.
