After months of anticipation, the ID. Buzz product has finally arrived. The production of ID. Buzz has progressed significantly since the official renderings were presented in 2017. Due to crash and pedestrian safety rules, the dimensions are more conventional than revolutionary.

VW's famous MEB modular electric architecture is found beneath, on the same platform that underpins the ID.3 and ID.4 hatchbacks. The ID.Buzz's basic features include two front doors, two sliding doors for rear passenger entry, and a swing-up hatch in the rear. A business-oriented "Cargo" model without back seats will be available, with an overall back capacity size of 137.7 cubic feet. Both models will be available in long-wheelbase versions in 2023.

An 82-kWh battery pack sits beneath the ID. Buzz's floor, supplying power to a single rear-wheel-drive motor with 201 hp and 229 lb-ft of torque. VW hasn't given any 0-60 numbers, but the ID. Buzz will have a max speed of 90 mph that will be electronically restricted. The battery's charge may be increased from 5% to 80% in about 30 minutes using DC rapid charging. There haven't been any range estimations given yet.

The van's body will be offered in 11 different colors. There are 7 single-color variants and 4 two-tone possibilities, similar to the original T1. A 10-inch infotainment screen is combined with a 10-inch gauge cluster display, and a stalk fitted to the steering wheel switches between Drive, Neutral, and Reverse. In Europe, a 12-inch infotainment screen with navigation is offered as an extra.

A five-seat configuration is standard in the passenger variant, but Volkswagen says that a six-passenger variant with a central driver's seat will be available in the future. A seven-seat configuration will be offered on long-wheelbase vehicles.

Volkswagen says the US-specific ID won't be available until 2023, with sales beginning in 2024. Although it will be built on the long-wheelbase passenger vehicle, no information on the engine has been disclosed. Pricing is also unknown at this time.
