Fake It Till You Make It: This Toyota Hilux Body Kit Turns Heads Like A Tundra

Few makeovers go as far, or as convincingly, as this one. In Thailand, custom shop Icon Cars has pulled off one of the boldest transformations yet: turning the mid-size Toyota Hilux into a full-blown Tundra impersonator.
Based in Chonburi province, Icon Cars has developed a complete conversion kit designed for both the seventh-generation Hilux Vigo and the current Hilux Revo, as long as the truck was built after 2012. The result is a midsize pickup that, at first glance, could easily be mistaken for a U.S.-spec Tundra.

Only the doors, roof, mirrors, and glass remain stock. Everything else has been swapped for reshaped and resized panels that closely mimic Toyota’s full-size truck. The front end features a massive grille, styled just like the real Tundra’s, flanked by what appear to be genuine Tundra headlights. Around back, a tailgate and sharp LED taillights help complete the illusion.

Getting the proportions right was no small feat. A top-spec Tundra can stretch over 252 inches long, while the Hilux maxes out around 210. Yet somehow, the conversion works. Thanks to flared fenders, beefy aftermarket wheels, and a much wider stance, the Toyota Hilux looks tougher than ever, especially with the added suspension lift.

Underneath all the styling upgrades, though, it’s still very much a Toyota Hilux. That means power comes from the 2.8-liter turbo diesel four-cylinder. The performance won’t blow anyone away, but the visual transformation might.

Icon Cars is selling the full Tundra-style conversion kit starting at ฿350,000 (roughly $10,700), not including the cost of wheels, tires, or suspension upgrades. For context, a new Hilux in Thailand starts at ฿584,000 and can climb past ฿1.5 million ($17,900 to $46,200), depending on trim.

For those who want Tundra looks with Hilux practicality and without paying full-size truck prices, this might be the most convincing Toyota mashup on the market.
