Mercedes Just Turned the C-Class Into a Mini S-Class EV

Mercedes has been slowly shifting its design language, and this C-Class feels like a step where it stops easing into it and just goes for it. It comes across less like a simple model update and more like a preview of what future Mercedes sedans might lean toward.
The front makes that clear. A grille filled with 1,050 light elements, with the star pattern carried into the lights' front and rear. It feels deliberate, like Mercedes is testing how bold it can go before it becomes the new normal.

Step inside, and it is pretty clear where Mercedes is going with this. The optional 39.1-inch Hyperscreen stretches across the dash as one continuous piece, with over 1,000 LED zones behind it. It feels more like a single digital surface than a set of screens. Driver and passenger each get their own space, which changes how the cabin is used without making a big deal out of it.

Then there is the comfort angle. Massage seats, ventilation, lumbar support, and even sound that you can feel through the seat. Add the panoramic roof with 162 illuminated stars, and it is clear Mercedes wants this to feel closer to an S-Class than a typical C-Class.

Performance still matters. The C 400 uses dual motors with 482 hp and hits 60 mph in 3.9 seconds. Range is up to 473 miles WLTP from a 94 kWh battery, with fast charging adding 202 miles in 10 minutes.
Underneath, it mixes comfort and control. Air suspension, predictive damping, and rear-wheel steering all aim to make it easy to drive in the city while staying stable at speed.

Software ties it together. MB.OS handles updates, voice control, navigation, and driver assistance. It stays at Level 2 but aims to handle more of the drive in real conditions.
The launch starting in the US also says a lot. Mercedes is aiming this at markets where premium EV sedans still have room to grow.

A few pieces are still up in the air, like pricing and final specs, but the direction is easy to read. This is Mercedes nudging the C-Class into a more premium space, closer to what you would expect from something a class above.
