DarwinPro’s Schubert Kit For The 992 Porsche 911: Beauty Or Beast?

When you're daydreaming about a sleek new carbon fiber aerodynamic kit for your 992-generation Porsche 911, the first thing that pops into your mind is probably Austrian composers, right? Well, that's exactly where DarwinPro’s head is at.

The aftermarket aero company has just dropped its Schubert Edition kit, the second one they've named after a composer. This time, it's Franz Schubert, best known for his "Ave Maria." DarwinPro previously rolled out a body kit named after Liszt, who famously arranged "Ave Maria" for piano.

So, why musicians? DarwinPro explains that this kit captures the essence of driving pleasure, just as Schubert's compositions captured the essence of the Romantic era. It's a celebration of precision, beauty, and unmatched performance—qualities that both Schubert and Porsche are known for." But calling this kit "a celebration of beauty" might be a bit of a stretch. Just like Schubert's melodies might bring you tears of joy, the sight of this kit may leave your eyes watering for a whole different reason.

The design of the headlights is somewhat extravagant. DarwinPro wrapped the 911's headlights in thick rings of carbon fiber, complete with long canards that resemble exaggerated eyelashes. It has the feel of a Pep Boys accessory aisle rather than a Viennese concert hall. However, once you pass the headlights, the rest of the kit begins to impress. Carbon fiber surrounds the front air intakes, though they seem subtler—maybe because the headlights are just so loud.

Below those, you'll find a front splitter that extends into the wheel arches, giving the 911 a much sharper look. Paired with a matching rear diffuser, these parts start to give the car a more distinct, performance-oriented appearance. DarwinPro asserts that the Schubert Edition kit enhances aerodynamic performance by introducing downforce and enhancing high-speed stability, although they have not yet conducted independent tests to validate these claims.

And while you might not have the most iconic 911 with this kit, you’ll certainly have one that stands out—probably the whole point of an aftermarket body kit. As for the price, DarwinPro hasn’t released specifics for the Schubert Edition, but it’s likely to be close to their BKSSII kit for the 992 911. That one starts at $6,750 for a basic carbon fiber over fiberglass setup. For something fancier, forged carbon and dry carbon fiber versions are available, priced at $8,440 and $10,125, respectively.
