Cybertruck Rust Scare Debunked: Surface Spots, No Big Deal!

Okay, Cybertruck fans, you can breathe a sigh of relief. That 'rust' you're seeing? Turns out it's not really a big deal.

You know how some new Cybertruck owners have been freaking out about those weird rust-colored spots showing up after it rains? Well, the Cybertruck's lead engineer, Wes Morrill, just set the record straight and it's way less scary than it looks.

Basically, stainless steel is kinda sensitive. If little bits of iron sit on the surface, they'll rust – but that doesn't mean your truck's falling apart. Morrill straight up said it's just "surface contamination" and super easy to clean. He even threw out some cleaning tips for owners.

And get this, Morrill pointed out that Tesla's stainless steel is even tougher than "marine grade," so true rust is super unlikely. Honestly, a lot of Tesla fans jumped in and were like, "Hey, regular paint gets this kinda thing too!"

Don't wanna deal with any of this? You can always pay for Tesla's fancy paint film wrap. They've got it in black, white, grey...even rose gold if you're feeling wild.

This YouTuber, Bearded Tesla Guy, made a whole video about it and he agrees with Morrill. Even he was a little worried with those spots on a $100,000 truck! Apparently, this kinda stuff can happen to any car – it's in the air, the rain, you name it. The iron gets stuck to the finish, gets wet, and boom – ugly orange spots. Thankfully, it's just cosmetic, not the truck actually rusting away.

Remember a few years ago when some Model 3s had that rust scare? Looks like that was a one-off, so hopefully this is the same deal.
