Custom BMW M4 Maloo Pickup Listed For $145,000

Over the years, BMW has played around with the idea of turning its cars into pickups, but never in a serious production way. The first example was a one-off BMW M3 E30 pickup used around the factory to move parts. Later came the BMW M3 E92 pickup, revealed in 2011 as an April Fools’ joke. In 2019, the brand even built a one-off BMW X7 pickup concept. But beyond those experiments, BMW never seriously pursued the idea.
That leaves room for the aftermarket to have some fun. This unusual build started life as a BMW M4 Competition before being transformed into something very different.

Known as the M4 Maloo, the project was created by DinMann in the United States and first appeared at the 2022 SEMA show. The name references the legendary Holden Maloo, which followed a similar idea of mixing serious performance with pickup practicality.

From the front, it still looks mostly like a standard M4. There is a DinMann front lip and some fender louvers, but nothing too dramatic. The real change happens behind the seats. The roof has been cut away and replaced with a pickup bed, turning the coupe into a low, wide performance ute that looks surprisingly natural from certain angles.

The car also received several performance upgrades. Under the hood, there is a Wagner Tuning carbon-fiber intake manifold, upgraded turbochargers, and a GTHaus exhaust system. It now runs on E85 fuel and has been given a revised ECU tune. The exact power figure has not been shared, but it is safe to assume it makes noticeably more than a standard M4 Competition.

This one-of-a-kind build is currently listed for about $145,000 and has around 7,500 miles on the clock. That is far more than a typical used M4 Competition, which makes the asking price hard to justify for most people. Still, for someone who wants something truly unusual, it is hard to think of many cars on the road quite like this one.
