Cupra Born Facelift Gets New Triangular Matrix LED Lights
by AutoExpert | 26 February, 2026
Cupra is not slowing down. The Spanish brand has just teased a refreshed version of the Born, its sharper and more attitude-packed sibling to the Volkswagen ID.3. The full reveal is set for March 5, but even from the early hints, it is clear this will not be a subtle tweak.
Let's start with the front end. The updated Born adopts Cupra’s newer design language, including triangular matrix LED headlights that look far more aggressive than before. Around the back, a matching triangular lighting signature ties things together, along with an illuminated rear badge.

Love it or hate it, glowing logos are clearly here to stay. Spy shots of camouflaged prototypes also point to reshaped bumpers and a taller lower grille with vertical outer vents, giving the car a wider, more planted stance.

Inside, the Born was already ahead of the ID.3 in terms of style and material quality, and Cupra promises further improvements. That said, it is not like the current car feels outdated. It already received VW’s larger and much-improved 12.9-inch touchscreen in 2024, which fixed many of the early complaints about infotainment usability. Buyers should expect small refinements.

Mechanically, Cupra is staying quiet for now. The existing Born already offers a solid range and performance, so this update may focus more on personality than on power. At the moment, the lineup starts with a 228 hp single-motor setup paired with either a 59 or 79 kWh battery, delivering up to 570 km of range.
For those who want something spicier, the Cupra Born VZ pushes 322 hp to the rear wheels.

Whether there is a surprise power bump coming or not, the facelifted Cupra Born looks ready to lean even harder into its sporty identity. March 5 should give us the full picture.
