Chevy Just Dropped the Gold Bowtie for a Cleaner New Look

Chevrolet is tweaking something small, but familiar. The gold bowtie is going away, replaced by a simpler, monochrome version.
It shows up first on a teaser for the 2027 Sonic RS, which debuts in Brazil next month. After that, it will start appearing across other models from the 2027 model year.

At a glance, it looks like just a color change. But there is a bit more to it. The shape has been stretched slightly, making it look flatter and wider. Subtle, but it gives it a more modern feel.
Chevy says this is not about EVs or trends for the sake of it. It is more about how cars are changing. Grilles are getting smaller, headlights slimmer, and front ends cleaner. A simpler logo fits better into that kind of design.
There is also a practical side. The new look works better with illuminated badges, which are becoming more common. And since it is not tied to a gold finish, it blends more easily with different body colors.

You will start spotting it on the new Sonic first. On the grill, the tailgate, the wheel caps, and even the steering wheel. That model is not coming to North America, but the badge will not stay there for long. Expect it to show up on things like the Silverado, the next Camaro, and future EVs.
The one question mark is the Corvette. That car usually keeps its distance from the regular Chevy badge, sticking to its own identity. So it might sit this one out.
Once the rollout picks up, it will be one of those changes you do not notice at first. Then suddenly, it is everywhere.
