Buick Regal GS Stays In The Game With New Looks And Performance Tweaks
by AutoExpert | 3 March, 2025
In China, the Buick Regal is still very much alive—and now there’s an updated GS variant to keep things interesting.
The new Buick Regal GS is essentially a sportier take on the standard model, a formula Buick has been using for years in China through its SAIC-GM partnership. This refreshed version doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it does get a few design tweaks to set it apart.

While the regular Buick Regal got a facelift in 2024 with a bold new grille, the GS keeps things more restrained, resembling the pre-facelift model. It features a smaller, blacked-out grille similar to what was once offered in the U.S., along with gloss black air intakes for a bit of extra aggression. Around back, there’s a black lip spoiler and GS badging, while underneath, Buick has reworked the suspension and thrown in a set of Brembo brakes.

Under the hood, the Buick Regal GS is available with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder in two states of tune: 169 hp or 237 hp. Inside, though, it’s clear that the Regal is showing its age. The cabin carries over unchanged from the standard model, meaning no digital instrument cluster and a relatively small infotainment screen running an outdated operating system.

Buick hasn’t revealed pricing yet, but the standard Regal starts at ¥106,900 ($14,700) and tops out at ¥123,900 ($17,000), so the GS will likely sit slightly above that range.
