BMW M’s Rarest Cars Might Only Be Sold In Your Country

BMW is leaning into something fans of the M division will love: exclusive, limited-run models made just for certain parts of the world. However, don’t expect every market to get the same thing. Sylvia Neubauer, who heads Customer, Brand, and Sales at BMW M, recently told BMW Blog that these special editions are key to the brand’s identity.
She also mentioned they’re always working on small batches tailored to specific regions like Japan, South Korea, Australia, and the Middle East.

This idea of market-specific M cars isn’t new. Earlier this year, China got the M4 Edition Nürburgring, with just 53 examples built. Before that, Japan saw the M3 MT Final Edition. Only 150 units, all sold locally. In 2022, they also got the 7 Series First Edition, again capped at 150.

Even the U.S. has had its exclusive. Back in 2013, BMW rolled out the M3 Lime Rock Park Edition during a post-recession slump. Only 200 were made, sold solely in America, and today it's one of the most sought-after M3s around.

If you value unique ownership, it could be worthwhile to monitor BMW's special-edition releases. The next rare M car might only be available in your country, and once they’re gone, they’re really gone.
