Bentley has announced its intention tu return for the last time to the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. The Colorado mountain will be conquered by the third time by the brand's Continental GT3. Accordong to the official information, the Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is a 12.42-mile (19.99 km) trek up Pikes Peak Highway with 156 turns that begins at 9,390 feet and finishes at the 14,115-foot summit. Quite a "hill". So far, Bentley holds the 2018 SUV Record 2019 Production Car Record. Now it's time for the third record.

Bentley 's teamed up its Continental GT3 with a customer team FastR, but didn't confirmed yet the records that wants to break this time. Knowing that the Continental GT3 is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with Cosworth engine management. The modified, Bentley can perform an output up to 557 horsepower sent to the rear wheels coupled to the Ricardo six-speed sequential gearbox with an AP racing clutch.

For more suspension resistance, the driveshaft was made of carbon fiber and the car now features double-wishbone suspension front and rear with four-way adjustable race dampers. Also, there's a carbon fiber front splitter and rear wing that increase the downforce, but need to be enlarged just a little bit for the high-altitudes of Pikes Peak successful climbing.

Bentley has set before record during this international climbing back in 2018 and in 20. The first record was reached with the Bentayga SUV when Bentley's vehicle performed a  record time of 10:49.9, becoming a record and outlasting even the Tesla Model 3 Performance that ran in 2020. After, in 2019, the British automaker put his Continental GT with Rhys Millen behind the wheel set a new time record and reached the mountain's top in 10:18.488.

The Continental GT equipped with the W12-powered engine wasn't enough for this year's competition. So, Bentley decided to bring the new Continental GT3 on the trek and rumors say that this year the automaker wants to compete against 2019 Porsche GT2 RS Clubsports' record. On April 9, more details will be revealed about its plans for the 2021 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.

The competition will take place this summer, on June27, in Colorado, U.S. This year will be interesting to watch with the car's performances sudden bloom.
