Audi Finally Fixed the Q4 e-tron Where It Needed It Most

Audi’s back on the Q4 again. Yeah, it already got a refresh not long ago, but this one feels more like they actually paid attention to what people said.
On the outside, it’s small stuff. New segmented LED lights, a cleaner front with that body-colored grille. You’ll notice it if you know the car, but it’s not shouting for attention.

The real work happened under the skin. They reworked the rear motor, updated the electronics, and trimmed down the friction in the drivetrain. Add some smarter software, and you end up with about a 10% bump in efficiency. That’s a real gain!
The best number comes from the Sportback version. Up to 591 km WLTP. That’s the proper range now. Charging got a slight push, too. 185 kW peak, and you’re still looking at around 27 minutes for 10 to 80%. Easy enough to live with.

The base model gets a small win as well. About 29 extra km. But let’s be honest, 424 km total still isn’t amazing if you plan long trips often. It’s fine for daily life, though.
Audi also cleaned up the lineup. No more mix and match with drivetrains on the lower trims. The base and mid versions are rear-wheel drive only now. If you want Quattro, you go straight to the top 340 hp model. Simple.

One thing I actually like here. Towing. Quattro versions can now pull up to 1,800 kg. That’s a big jump and is finally useful. And they added bidirectional charging. In some places, you can use the car to power your house or store solar energy. That’s the kind of feature that makes sense long-term.
Inside is where they really needed to step up. Better materials, nicer lighting, cleaner layout. It finally feels closer to what you expect when you see the badge.

Screens take over, of course. Big driver display, big central screen, optional passenger screen. There’s also an augmented reality head-up display and even ChatGPT built in. Tech-wise, it’s fully up to date.
They did fix one mistake. The steering wheel gets real scroll wheels again. Good. The touch controls before were annoying.

But then they went and removed physical climate buttons. Everything’s on the screen now. That part feels like a step back. You don’t want to dig through menus just to adjust the temperature.
So yeah, better range, better feel inside, more usable features.
