Atlis, an electric vehicle startup, revealed images of its XT electric pickup truck in 2019. The startup now has a tangible prototype after almost three years. Although the XT was originally depicted as having more of a classic pickup truck shape in drawings, the real-world prototype has a boxier, squared-off appearance, making it more resemble a regular-shaped Tesla Cybertruck.

Atlis XT has a frunk, which is common among electric trucks such as the Ford F-150 Lightning and Rivian R1T. This one, on the other hand, has the distinct advantage of being able to be utilized for welding out of.

The XT also has side view “mirrors” that are actually cameras that extend out of the fenders and operate as turn signals, like semaphores on older automobiles. The camera units have heating components to prevent them from freezing shut in colder areas. The distinctive skateboard-style architecture with individual traction motors at each wheel and single-speed direct-drive gearboxes underpins the XT. Different suspension and steering systems are available.

No new specs have been revealed by Atlis, although the ones from 2019 seem promising. They include 300-500 miles (483-805 km) range depending on battery and engine, 1,000-5,000 lbs (454-2,268 kg) payload, 5,000-20,000 lbs (2,268-9,072 kg) hitch towing capability and 10,000-35,000 lbs (4,536-15,876 km) gooseneck towing capacity.
The truck can also be fully charged in as little as 15 minutes using Atlis' own high-speed charging network, which they want to expand across the U.S. soon.

The XT's interior had only been seen in renderings up until now. In addition to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the 12.8-inch infotainment screen was built so that important vehicle functions could be accessible with just three touches. The digital gauge cluster is mounted to the steering column, allowing for excellent screen vision regardless of how the steering wheel is positioned. The side view camera feed is displayed on two screens on either side of the wheel.

Atlis XT will start at $45,000, which is reasonable for the EV truck category, and Atlis says a subscription plan would start at $700. The XT truck will go into production in late 2022, with shipments following.
