Aston Martin Vanquish Volante Debuts With 824 HP And 214 MPH Top Speed

Aston Martin has just pulled the wraps off the Vanquish Volante, the drop-top version of its flagship grand tourer. It’s no ordinary convertible—it matches the coupe as the most powerful front-engined production car you can buy.

At its heart is the same twin-turbo 5.2-liter V12, cranking out a monstrous 824 hp and 737 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through an eight-speed ZF automatic transaxle and an electronically controlled differential.

To compensate for the lack of a fixed roof, Aston Martin reinforced the chassis, but weight gain is limited to just 95 kg (209 lbs). Engineers also retuned the suspension, tweaking the adaptive Bilstein DTX dampers for the new weight distribution.

Speed? No compromises here. The Vanquish Volante hits the same blistering 214 mph top speed as the coupe, making it the fastest front-engined convertible on the market. It edges out the Ferrari 12Cilindri Spider, which tops out at 211 mph. However, it’s slightly slower off the line, taking 3.4 seconds to reach 62 mph compared to Ferrari’s 2.95 seconds.

Aston Martin gave the Volante a sleeker rear deck, ditching the coupe’s integrated ducktail spoiler for a cleaner look. The fabric roof, which folds away in just 14 seconds, is acoustically enhanced to offer near-coupe levels of insulation.

Inside, the Aston Martin Vanquish Volante retains the coupe’s layout but gains a roof control switch and a dedicated button for ADAS settings. Tech highlights include dual 10.25-inch screens and a premium 15-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system. Buyers can opt for carbon-fiber Performance Seats, a lightweight titanium exhaust, or even a custom saddle-leather luggage set—because why not?

The Aston Martin Vanquish Volante is available to order now, with first deliveries expected in Q3 2025. But don’t expect to see too many—Aston Martin is keeping production tight, with the entire Vanquish lineup capped at fewer than 1,000 units per year.
