Tiny Car No More: Smart #5 Brabus Is A Full-Throttle Electric Beast
by AutoExpert | 10 April, 2025
Smart is stepping way out of its comfort zone with this one—and honestly, it's kind of wild to see. The new Smart #5 Brabus is a full-on electric performance crossover that seems far removed from the tiny city cars the brand was once known for. And it’s not just wearing a sporty badge for show—this thing brings serious heat.
Ahead of its big reveal at the Shanghai Auto Show later this month, Smart has given us a proper look at what the #5 Brabus is all about.

It takes the base #5 and cranks everything up—styling, tech, power, you name it. On the outside, it rolls on striking 21-inch monoblock wheels with a two-tone finish, while bright red accents and red brake calipers scream performance. Brabus branding is prominently displayed throughout, ensuring that no one could possibly forget who boosted the performance.

Inside, the Smart #5 Brabus is just as bold. The cabin features a dual 13-inch screen setup alongside a 10.3-inch digital cluster. The steering wheel is wrapped in Alcantara and lights up with Brabus lettering. Microfiber and Dinamica upholstery cover the seats, which aren’t just heated and ventilated up front—they’re heated in the back too. A panoramic glass roof, microfiber headliner, sporty pedals, and red seatbelts complete the cabin’s vibe, which leans hard into the premium-performance look. There’s also a 256-color ambient lighting system and a 20-speaker Sennheiser audio setup that pushes out over 2,000 watts.

Of course, none of that would matter if it didn’t have the power to back it up—and it definitely does. The #5 Brabus packs a 100 kWh battery that feeds a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system. The total output is a serious 637 horsepower. That’s enough to send this Smart #5 Brabus crossover from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.8 seconds. Moreover, thanks to its battery size and clever packaging, it boasts a WLTP range of up to 336 miles.

The Smart #5 Brabus supports 400 kW DC fast charging, which can juice the battery from 10 to 80% in just 18 minutes—ideal if you’re doing more than just city commuting. Orders open in Germany on April 24, with pricing starting at €60,900, or around $66,850. UK orders are coming later this year, though there’s no word on pricing just yet. It’s a big, bold move for Smart. Tiny city cars? That was then. This is Smart now—and it’s a whole new game.
