2026 Nissan Leaf Gets Tesla Plug, Bigger Battery, And Dual Screens
by AutoExpert | 19 June, 2025
Nissan just gave the Leaf a major update for 2026, and it’s looking better than ever!
The refreshed 2026 Nissan Leaf will come in four trims: S, S+, SV+, and the new top-of-the-line Platinum+. The big news? The upgraded models (S+ and above) will use a 214-horsepower electric motor with 261 lb-ft of torque, powered by a larger 75-kWh liquid-cooled battery.

The base Leaf S gets a smaller 52-kWh battery and a slightly less powerful motor: 174 horsepower and 254 lb-ft. That version won’t arrive until spring 2026, but the other trims will hit showrooms this fall. Range has improved dramatically. The S+ now goes up to 303 miles on a charge, up from just 212 miles in the 2024 version. The SV+ offers 288 miles, while the Platinum+ with its larger 19-inch wheels delivers 259 miles.

Charging is more flexible now too. The 2026 Leaf includes both a Tesla-style NACS plug on one side and a J1772 port on the other. It can recharge from 10% to 80% in about 35 minutes. A heat pump comes standard on the top trims, and a battery heater is available as an option.

Inside, the flat floor and new screens give the cabin a modern feel. All models come with dual 12.3-inch screens, but the SV+ and Platinum+ get larger 14.3-inch displays with Google built-in. Thankfully, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard across the board.

The range-topping Platinum+ also includes extras like a 10-speaker Bose sound system and a head-up display. Nissan’s ProPilot Assist and a full suite of driver-assist features, like emergency braking, lane departure warning, and high beam assist, are included on all trims.
Pricing hasn’t been announced yet, but for reference, the current 2025 Leaf starts at $29,290, including destination.
