2026 Jeep Recon Electric SUV Offers Removable Doors And Lockers
by AutoExpert | 20 November, 2025
Jeep is moving ahead with its first fully electric, Trail Rated model, the 2026 Recon. It’s quick, and it’s properly capable off-road. However, it’s arriving at a moment when EV demand isn’t exactly booming.
For now, Jeep is launching just one version of the Recon called the Moab. It uses a motor at each axle with a combined output of 650 hp and 620 lb-ft of torque.

That’s slightly more than the top Wagoneer S, and the Recon reaches 60 mph in 3.6 seconds. Range is estimated at 250 miles from a 100 kWh battery. It’s not great, but the trade-off is capability rather than efficiency.
The Recon is the only Jeep EV to earn the Trail Rated badge so far. To get it, Jeep gave the Moab 33-inch tires, locking differentials, a 15:1 rear final-drive ratio, Selec-Terrain drive modes, and a Rock mode that’s only available here. Steel skid plates protect the battery, and the suspension hardware is beefed up to handle off-road loads.

The new 2026 Jeep Recon rides on independent suspension front and rear and uses a modern rack-and-pinion steering setup, unlike the solid-axle Wrangler. That should make it nicer to drive on the road, though its approach, breakover, and departure angles can’t quite match the Wrangler Moab 392. Ground clearance is also lower, thanks to the battery.
The design stays familiar. Boxy shape, upright grille, removable doors, removable quarter windows, and a removable rear glass panel. Jeep even kept the option for the Sky One-Touch power top. The Moab trim adds blacked-out details, wider fender flares, and an anti-glare hood panel.

Inside, the layout leans more modern than rugged. A 26-inch digital display stretches across the dashboard, including a 12.3-inch cluster and a 14.5-inch touchscreen running Uconnect 5. There are grab handles, durable materials, and a modular accessory rail for things like a GoPro. Jeep moved the speakers under the seats so audio doesn’t vanish when the doors come off.

Production of the 2026 Jeep Recon starts early next year in Mexico, with the Moab trim priced at $65,000. Cheaper versions should follow later. The Recon has the hardware to be a proper Jeep. The question is whether buyers are ready for an electric off-roader at this price, in this market.
