2025 Toyota Wildlander Drops Unique Styling, Mirrors Latest RAV4 Look
by AutoExpert | 12 August, 2025
Everyone knows the Toyota RAV4. It’s the SUV that’s somehow in every neighborhood, every shopping mall parking lot, and probably parked outside your gym right now. In China, Toyota sells two versions. There’s the regular RAV4 we all know, built with partner FAW. And then there’s the Wildlander, a slightly different sibling made with GAC.
Now the Wildlander’s getting a glow-up, and for the first time in a while, it’s ditching the “I’m totally different” face. The last model had unique front and rear styling to set it apart, but the new one? Pretty much a dead ringer for the latest RAV4: same shape, same headlights, same everything. The only giveaway is the “Wildlander” badge on the back.

It’s also rocking the clean-cut look of the RAV4 Core trim, with a body-colored honeycomb grille, discreet skid plates, and nothing too flashy. If you were hoping for the chunkier Adventure or Woodland trim vibes, or the sporty GR Sport kit, sorry…the Wildlander’s keeping things civil.

Where it actually stands out is under the hood. While a lot of markets are going full hybrid or plug-in, the Wildlander still offers a plain old petrol option, a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter four-cylinder making 169 horsepower. You can get it with front-wheel drive for city life or AWD if you plan to tackle wet roads or the occasional muddy track.

For the eco-conscious crowd, there are two self-charging hybrids. One pairs a 2.0-liter engine with an electric motor for 150 hp; the other upgrades to a 2.5-liter setup with 182 hp. Both are available with either front-wheel drive or Toyota’s E-Four AWD. And nope—no plug-in hybrid here. If you want a RAV4 Prime-style rocket ship, you’re out of luck.

The updated 2025 Toyota Wildlander will officially roll out in China in the coming months. Honestly, it’s still kind of cool knowing that even the RAV4 has a secret twin living on the other side of the world.
