2024 Piech GT Is A 600-HP Electric Sports Car Evoking The Spirit Of The Past

Pich Automotive, a Swiss start-up that debuted its Mark Zero concept car at the Geneva Auto Show over 2 years ago, has begun testing its first production version in preparation for a 2024 release on the markets. This new electric 2024 Piech GT sports coupé will be offered in Europe, China, and the United States, among other places, and will be followed by an SUV and a Sportlimousine saloon based on the same modular structure in due time.

The Mark Zero concept has been renamed the GT, and despite the name change, the low-slung sports coupé unveiled in Switzerland stays substantially unchanged, with Piech stating that its timeless design means it is not constrained by any consumer cycles.

It will remain a two-door two-seater with a cab-rearward shape and a unique Kammtail-style back part, with dimensions of 4432mm long, 1991mm wide, and 1250mm height. The EV's engine, on the other hand, has seen "substantial innovation" in the last two years. The GT packs a total of 600bhp from three motors (two on the back axle and one on the front) for a reported 0-62mph time of 3.0sec.

But, more importantly, the 2024 Piech GT is said to offer classic sports car handling. The projected curb weight of around 1800kg, which would be a 500kg reduction over the Porsche Taycan, will be critical to the GT's vaunted dynamic maneuverability. It will be accomplished by utilizing novel ‘pouch cell' tech for the batteries, which will weigh well below the conventionally manufactured units while also providing better conditioning and charging.

The battery's capacity has yet to be revealed, but Pich claims it can recharge from 0% to 80% in 8 minutes and has a distance of 311 miles. According to Piech, series manufacturing will start in 2024. The GT will be built by a well-known third-party manufacturer, however, the name of that company has yet to be revealed. In the first year, Piech hopes to manufacture 1200 GTs.

Piech's retail network is expected to grow to 60 "in-house" locations in the future, with several "recognized organizations" signing on to provide after-sales assistance. Jochen Rudat, the company's sales director, who previously worked for Tesla, stated that interested consumers would soon be able to order their own 2024 Piech GT and get a strong foothold even before sales begin.
