Four weeks after the South Korean carmaker unveiled the first official photographs of the new SUV, the full specs of the 2023 Kia Sportage have now been released.

New Kia Sportage will be sold both in long- and short-wheelbase configurations, depending on the market, and with a variety of engines. A 1.6-liter TGDI four-cylinder engine with 177-hp and 195 lb-ft of torque is available from the start. A 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine with 183-hp and remarkable 307 lb-ft of torque will also be available.

The 1.6-liter TGDI engine may work with either a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic or a six-speed manual transmission. The R2.0-liter diesel engine comes equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission with a damper-controlled multi-disc torque converter that, supposedly, improves fuel efficiency by expanding the lock-up range. The transmission has been teamed up with a new oil pump.

Kia has stated that other petrol and diesel engines are on the way but no details have been released. Powertrains that are hybrid or plug-in hybrid are also in development.

The N3 architecture is one of 2023 Kia Sportage's highlights and should make it more adept while off-roading. The SUV comes with an all-new Terrain Mode that automatically modifies settings according to the weather, including snow, mud, and sand. For on-road driving, you may opt for the additional Comfort, Eco, Sport, and Smart driving modes. The Sportage also has Electric Control Suspension (ECS), which allows for real-time damping control. Kia's high-tech E-Handling technology will be available on hybrid and plug-in hybrid cars.

The SUV has a variety of safety measures. Kia's Advanced Driver Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control, Highway Driving Assist (HDA), and Assistance System (ADAS) are all included (NSCC). Other Genesis, Hyundai, and Kia models get the same Remote Smart Parking Assist system as the Sportage.

Of course, no discussion of the 2017 Sportage would be complete without mentioning the amazing new exterior design. A huge black tiger-nose grille is found at the front of the SUV, which is supplemented with boomerang-shaped LED daytime running lights. An optional black roof and a chrome beltline that reaches up to the D-pillar help to emphasize the SUV's dramatic character. The Sportage is further distinguished from the back with its noticeable LED taillights and a light bar.

For the 2023 Sportage, Kia will offer 17-, 18-, and 19-inch wheel types, depending on the spec. The SUV will be available in several trim levels depending on the market, but Kia has announced that an X-Line edition will be available, similar to the Sportage X-Line and including a rugged bumper, roof rack, and a side sills. A GT-Line model with vibrant colors and a black and white interior will also be available.

The interior, like the exterior, has gone through a lot of transformations. A 12-inch touchscreen and a 12-inch digital instrument cluster are located at the center of the cabin. A shift-by-wire transmission dial can be seen on the center console, which is likewise brand new.

Fresh Kia Sportage will go on sale in Europe this year as a 2022 model, and in the United States as a 2023 model the following year.
