After some photos being leaked, Toyota comes with an official presentation of its new 2022 Tundra wearing the TRD Pro guise. The unveiling took place on Toyota’s official Twitter account, after lots of teasing on the details of the new model.

After being initially posted on Reddit and Facebook, the current Toyota full-size pickup comes on the official account of the carmaker. The off-road is presented in the TRD Pro trim, after its debut back in 2007. 15 years in the same “gown” – it was kind of time for an upgrade.

The front of the vehicle was firstly showed on May 18, with its big lightbar and headlights. A large Toyota inscription is underlined by the light bar on top, with other lighting elements highlighting the Tundra badge. The octagonal grille features LED elements on the side headlights, while the hood comes with angular bulges, making the front of the car look quite muscular.

On the back, we find some more text on the tailgate. TRD PRO is written here and is highlighted by three lights. The taillights come in a smart blend of vertical red lines. The photos also reveal some kind of camouflage pattern, reminding of some carbon composites.

On the sides, the wheel arches are emphasized in black plastic, while the big tires and black rims hint at off-road capacities. The trucks have four doors and an aiding step.

As for the engine, we expect it to be a 6-cylinder one instead of the current V8. We’ve witnessed iForce MAX teasers recently, so that might also be a great feature on the upcoming Tundra. According to Toyota, there will be more power and torque available than delivered by the current 5.7-liter engine. This one comes with a power of 381 hp and a torque of 401 lb-ft.

There is also an electrified version in the future range of the Toyota pickup truck lineup, which might increase the performance figures a little more. Just like the new Land Cruiser, there will be a new body-on-frame platform available for the 2022 Tundra. Seems that the leaf springs have been replaced with coiled springs, which means the suspension will be independent.

Toyota promises to start selling the new Tundra in Q4 2021, so we shall find out more details about it pretty soon.
