After the massive event cancellations across the world, the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show brings joy, beauty, and breathtaking models to the market in real life. Mercedes is just one of the many other automakers who presented their latest models. The revealed new EQB is both an all-electric GLB variant and a seven-seater EQA sibling alongside the flagship EQS electric luxury saloon.

The German carmaker announced that they plan to produce an EQB Chinese-specific version in Beijing. There is also the European version scheduled to launch this year. More information about the US model specifications will release next year.

The Chinese SUV version will launch as in top-of-the-range AMG Line form producing 288 HP. Several configurations will be available such as FWD, and AWD systems, different power outputs, and battery pack sizes, starting from a powerful 66.5 kWh. The European version models, dubbed as the EQB 350 4Matic, could offer a 260 mile (419 km) mile range. Mercedes plans to add “a particularly long-range version,” which will be more than welcome. This one could conquer the market. The model features an 11 kW onboard charger as standard and can charge up to 100 kW at a DC fast-charge station.

Gorden Wagener, Chief Design Officer of Daimler Group, stated that “with the all-new EQB, we have created an iconic electric SUV that takes the heritage of our boxy off-road vehicles and transforms this into the future. We combine the significant boxy silhouette with futuristic elements such as the black-panel front to create the extraordinary look of the vehicle”. The front features a continuous fiber-optic light strip that connects the daytime running lights of the full-LED headlights with exclusive 20-inch wheels finished in rosé gold or blue designs. Meanwhile, the rear end features a full-width LED light strip and its number plate mounted, now on the bumper.

Sharing the same wheelbase as the GLB and an inside space identical to the ICE-powered SUV. The dashboard also remains, with many similarities to the GLB, with just a little trim and color changes. Customers can choose rosé gold-colored decorative elements on the air vents, seats, and even the key fob, dual-display setup coming with EV-specific screens for some of the models. The Mercedes EQB features the latest version of the MBUX infotainment system with Navigation with Electric Intelligence as standard. The system can calculate the fastest route to the destination, necessary charging stops along with the topography, and the updated weather.

More details about the Mercedes EQB price and other specifications will be announced at the end of this year. For the British market, mentions the EQB models as EQB 300 and EQB 350.
