2022 Aston Martin Valkyrie V12 Spider Is The Brand's Fastest Open-Top Car

The latest "Spider" version of Aston Martin's 1,134 hp (1,150 PS/845 kW) Valkyrie hypercar has been shown. The open-air edition, which will be propelled by an identical hybrid drivetrain, will be restricted to just 85 units.

Valkyrie V12 Spider is the quickest open-top vehicle the British automaker has ever produced, and it was designed to stay true to Adrian Newey's original design. As an outcome, the hinges, essential chassis strengthening, and minor aero tweaks to accommodate for the detachable top are the only alterations to the Red Bull Racing chief technical officer's design.

As Newey comments, the roof appears to be quite simplistic, as it just hooks onto the vehicle and can be promptly deleted with the doors open. The roof is made out of a central carbon-fiber spine with polycarbonate glass panels on either side that folds up and is fixed in the same position as the gullwing joints on the regular version.

Valkyrie V12 Spider, unlike the hardtop, has dihedral-hinged doors that tilt forward for easier access and egress. Aston Martin had to redesign the car's carbon structure as a result of these changes, as well as the requirement for additional reinforcement to compensate for the non-structural roof's loss of strength.

The British carmaker does not go into detail regarding the nature or expense of these changes, but it does state that the Spider will be just slightly heavier than the Valkyrie coupe. There's no detail on the aero modifications, although the company claims they were made to improve roofless driving.

Even yet, with the top up, the automobile is quicker. Valkyrie Spider has a peak speed of 350km/h+ with it installed (217 mph). The maximum speed lowers to 330 km/h+ when the roof is removed (205 mph). In either case, Aston Martin guarantees that it will be hideously quick around a track.

The firm claims that it is the “quickest and most severe open-top, road-legal Aston Martin ever created.” “Valkyrie Spider is supposed to produce remarkable lap times not typically possible in a road-going vehicle, offering LMP1 performance levels.”

A 6.5-liter V12 engine generating 1,000 horses powers both Valkyrie versions, which is supplemented by a 160-hp battery-electric system developed by Rimacn and Integral Powertrain. They produce 1,134 hp (1,150 PS/845 kW) at 10,500 rpm and 664 lb-ft (900 Nm) at 6,000 rpm when used together.

With the roof down and the V12 redlining at 11,100 rpm, the sound will most likely be breathtaking. According to Aston Martin, individuals willing to buy the vehicle are more than the 85 units it will produce, therefore it will start making allocations shortly.

The business claims to be well on its way to completing the first development concepts, after which details such as overall weight, lap times, and other specifics would be accessible. Valkyrie V12 Spider will be produced in both left and right-hand drive variants, with initial deliveries expected in the second half of 2022.

Aston Martin CEO Tobias Moers adds: "With the Valkyrie Spider, we're bringing that passion and excitement to the next level. Driving experience is going to be incredible." The carmaker hasn't released pricing for the Valkyrie Spider, but construction spots are said to be £2,310,000 ($3,207,432).
