Tesla Cybertruck Sales Stall as Inventory Tops 10,000 Units

Looks like Tesla's futuristic pickup isn't exactly flying off the lots these days. Reports show Cybertruck inventory has ballooned to over 10,000 vehicles nationwide, with some units sitting around since early 2024.
Data from TeslaInfo suggests this growing stockpile might be worth nearly $800 million at the truck's average $79,000 price tag. Pretty wild, right? Even some of those fancy Foundation Series models (which Tesla reportedly stopped making back in October) are still gathering dust on dealership lots.

The company seems to be shifting gears in response. They've rolled out a new rear-wheel-drive version using the same battery pack as the all-wheel-drive model, possibly ditching plans for multiple battery options. It's a familiar move for Tesla, who's simplified their lineup before when things got complicated.
Current trends paint a sobering picture compared to early projections. Instead of the ambitious 250,000 annual units once predicted, Tesla might struggle to move even 20,000 Cybertrucks per year at this rate.
The bigger automotive market isn't helping either. Tesla's own quarterly report mentioned "uncertainty" in both automotive and energy sectors, pointing to shifting trade policies and political climates affecting demand. Some analysts have even suggested boycotts related to Elon Musk's public statements might be impacting sales.

With inventory continuing to climb, industry watchers speculate Tesla might need to take more drastic action soon – possibly including production cuts or even a temporary pause on making new Cybertrucks altogether.
