McLaren Made A Gaming Chair And It Costs Almost As Much As A Used Car

Owning a McLaren is out of reach for most people, but McLaren has found a way to sneak into more homes anyway. Not through a car, but through a gaming chair that costs about as much as a used hatchback.
McLaren has teamed up with Secretlab to create an ultra-limited chair inspired by the brand’s supercars. It’s called the Secretlab McLaren MonoCell Edition, and only 100 will be made. Each one carries a $1,999 price tag, which might sound steep for a chair, but that’s kind of the point.

The MonoCell Edition leans heavily into McLaren’s design language. The shell is made from real carbon fiber, shaped to echo the teardrop-style structures used in the brand’s road cars. There’s also a numbered badge on the back, just in case you forget how limited it is.
Ordering opens December 15 at 8 a.m. PST, and there’s no safety net if you change your mind. Once you buy it, that’s it. No returns, no exchanges, no cancellations. It’s very much a “commit first, think later” situation.

Under the carbon fiber skin, the chair is based on Secretlab’s familiar TITAN Evo platform. That means cold-cure foam padding, the brand’s pebble-shaped seat base, and adjustable four-way lumbar support designed for long sessions without wrecking your back. The exterior is wrapped in Dinamica microsuede, chosen to mimic the look and feel of high-end automotive interiors.

For anyone who misses out on the MonoCell Edition, there’s a more accessible option. Secretlab is also selling a TITAN Evo McLaren Edition that swaps the real carbon fiber for carbon-look leatherette. It offers the same core build quality and ergonomics but starts at $799, making it far easier to justify.
No, it won’t get you anywhere faster. But if your idea of luxury includes racing sims, triple monitors, and a bit of carbon fiber flair, this might be the closest thing to McLaren ownership most people will ever experience.
