Best Tesla Model 3 Alternatives in Europe for 2024
by AutoExpert | 16 April, 2025
Tesla's having a rough year in Europe. With sales dropping by as much as 50% in some countries (partly due to Elon Musk's political activities), many shoppers are looking elsewhere for their electric sedan fix.
The Model 3 remains impressive, no doubt. Starting at €39,900, it offers 318 miles of range in its base version, with the Long Range model pushing that to an impressive 436 miles for €5,000 more. The Performance variant (€57,900) finally feels like a proper sports sedan after recent updates.

But Europe's EV market has exploded with alternatives that deserve attention:
Polestar 2 has evolved nicely since its 2020 debut. The switch to rear-wheel drive in 2023 transformed its driving dynamics, and battery upgrades pushed range to 394 miles in the long-range version. Prices start under €50,000, though the top-spec model with 476 hp will set buyers back around €66,000.

BMW i4 delivers exactly what you'd expect from Bavaria—quality build, premium interior, and engaging driving dynamics. The base eDrive35 (€57,500) offers 310 miles of range, while the pricier eDrive40 stretches that to 372 miles. Performance enthusiasts might spring for the M50 (€72,100) with its 536 hp, though its 4,800-pound weight is noticeable in corners.

Hyundai Ioniq 6 might split opinions with its streamlined look, but that 0.21 drag coefficient isn't just for show. Its 800-volt architecture enables faster charging than most competitors (including Tesla). The long-range version delivers up to 381 miles of range for €54,000, with all-wheel drive available at €61,100.

BYD Seal feels more luxurious inside than the minimalist Model 3. Its 84 kWh battery provides 354 miles of range, and the dual-motor version pumps out 530 hp. Starting at €46,990 (€50,990 for AWD), it strikes a great balance between cornering ability and comfort.

Nio ET5 brings unique options to the table, including a wagon variant and battery subscription service. The standard 75 kWh battery delivers 283 miles of range for €59,500, while the 100 kWh pack pushes that to 367 miles for €68,500. The subscription option cuts the purchase price by €12,000-21,000 but adds monthly fees.

Zeekr 001 offers Taycan Sport Turismo vibes at a lower price point. This Swedish-designed fastback provides 385 miles of range from its 100 kWh battery. The single-motor version starts at €54,990, while dual motors bump the price to €65,490 and slash the 0-62 mph time from 7.1 to 3.8 seconds.

European EV shoppers have never had more compelling alternatives to the Model 3—whether they're switching for political reasons or simply because the competition has gotten that good.
