Ford Killed the Edge in America, but China Still Gets This 7-Seat Version

The Ford Edge has reached the end of the road in North America, but China has a different story. There, the Edge L continues to serve families who need seven seats, plenty of space, and a generous dose of technology. Now, Ford has given it a midlife refresh, with updated styling and a few changes under the dashboard.
Ford has kept the styling changes simple. The front now features new LED headlights, a broader-looking grille, and a redesigned bumper with vertical openings. The side profile stays the same, but buyers get new 19-, 20-, and 21-inch wheel options. At the rear, smaller darkened taillights, a revised tailgate, and a new bumper complete the update.

The Ford Edge L measures 5,011 mm (197 inches) from nose to tail, with a 2,950 mm wheelbase. That's close to the American Explorer in size, although the two SUVs have different foundations. The Edge L uses a front-wheel-drive-based platform, while the Explorer follows a rear-wheel-drive layout.
The cabin remains a seven-seater, with a huge 27-inch 4K touchscreen taking center stage. A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster sits alongside it, while a new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 processor gives the infotainment system more computing power. Ford's SYNC Max software also brings AI integration.

Buyers can choose between two familiar powertrains. The 2.0-liter turbocharged EcoBoost makes 249 hp and pairs with an eight-speed automatic. The hybrid version delivers 275 hp through an eCVT and promises up to 1,188 km (738 miles) of range on one tank.
Prices start at ¥229,800 ($34,500), rising to ¥299,800 ($45,000) for the top model. The Edge L remains focused on China, but Ford also ships it to markets such as Mexico.
