Mahindra’s $10,000 G-Wagon Alternative Gets A Bronze Makeover

A Mercedes G-Class costs a fortune, but in India, you can get a massive, ladder-frame SUV for a fraction of the price. Meet the Mahindra Bolero Bold Edition, a new version of the long-running off-roader that adds bronze details without changing the old-school hardware underneath. It won’t turn heads for its horsepower, but that’s not really the point.
The Bold Edition is essentially an accessory package, adding bronze accents to the grille, front bumper, fog light surrounds, side cladding, mirror caps, and roof rails. Matching five double-spoke alloy wheels complete the look. Inside, black leatherette seats get bronze details, with matching touches on the floor mats. There’s also a rearview camera displayed through the infotainment screen, a useful addition to an SUV that can carry up to seven people.

The Bolero has been around since 2000, and its basic shape hasn’t changed much over the years. The current third-generation model arrived in 2011 and received another facelift in 2025, bringing a revised grille, diamond-cut 15-inch wheels on the top trim, and a few extra color choices. The cabin includes a 9-inch infotainment system with Bluetooth and a USB-C port, but don’t expect luxury-car levels of technology.

Under the hood, the Bold Edition keeps its 1.5-liter three-cylinder diesel engine, producing 76 hp and 155 lb-ft of torque. Power goes to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox. Despite the rugged appearance and ladder-frame chassis, there’s no four-wheel-drive option mentioned in the lineup.
Mahindra hasn’t announced the price of the Bold Edition package. The regular Bolero costs between ₹8.57 lakh and ₹9.99 lakh (roughly $9,000–$10,500) in India.
