Bentley Torcal First Edition Adds Carbon Fiber And 875 HP Of Electric Power

Bentley has barely had time to introduce the electric Torcal, and it's already giving buyers a more expensive way to have one. The new First Edition adds carbon-fiber parts, exclusive cabin finishes, and a hefty equipment list.

More importantly, it gets the same 875-hp electric setup as the Torcal S, making it the most powerful version in the range for now. Bentley clearly wants its first electric SUV to feel like a proper member of the family.

From the outside, the biggest giveaway is the set of 22-inch wheels, finished in black and Liquid Silver. They come with Graphene Grey brake calipers and Bentley's self-leveling badges. Carbon fiber is also used for the front bumper winglets, mirror caps, side sills, and rear diffuser.

The mechanical package is where things get serious. A 113-kWh battery supplies two electric motors, delivering 875 hp and 996 lb-ft of torque through an 800-volt electrical system. With launch control, the Torcal reaches 62 mph in 2.9 seconds and tops out at 162 mph. That's quick for something designed to carry passengers in first-class comfort. When the battery needs charging, the SUV supports up to 400 kW DC charging, taking it from 10 to 80 percent in under 20 minutes.

There's plenty going on inside, too. Mulliner offers two exclusive color combinations, eight accent shades, and the option of a third interior color. Full leather upholstery and contrast stitching are available, while standard equipment includes gloss carbon-fiber trim, deep-pile floor mats, and heated, ventilated, massaging front seats. Rear passengers get Comfort Seats of their own.

Other additions include a glass roof that switches between transparent and opaque, powered front and rear doors, and a 28-speaker Naim sound system with 1,780 watts and Dolby Atmos. Bentley hasn't shared the price or production numbers yet.
