This Tuned-Up Toyota Hilux AMG Is The Perfect Mix Of "Japanese Meets German"

The YouTube channel, Cars.co.za, published a video entitled "The craziest pick-up in South Africa". The video features a Toyota Hilux, equipped with the famous V8 engine built by Mercedes-AMG, thus perfectly combining Japanese reliability with German performance.

The author of the project is a blogger and a famous South African car enthusiast Quentin Boylan. For this project, he used an eighth-generation Hilux. The vehicle received a new sports suspension, which lowered the ground clearance quite a lot. Further,  the blogger changed the stock brakes on Mercedes-AMG ones and had sport tire rims installed.  Thus, the pickup became impractical on the off-road road, but perfect for making a show on the circuit.

However, the most important change is hidden under the hood. The famous Mercedes-AMG 6.2-liter V8 engine, code M156, delivers power that has not been disclosed yet. Generally, depending on the version, this engine develops somewhere from 457 to 631 hp, which is more than twice more than a civilian Hilux.

It is worth mentioning that the AMG stylistic elements embellish the vehicle's interior as well, like the original sports seats. Boylan says he travels with the pickup every day and is generally very happy with the changes.

He explains his choice of the Hilux as the basis for the project, through the impressive reliability of the Japanese vehicle. This isn't the blogger's first experiment with Hilux. Previously, he even lifted up in the sky a Hilux and had it thrown.
