This Lexus GX 550 Body Kit Is All About Looking Tough

The Lexus GX 550 was built to handle dirt, rocks, and pretty much anything else you can throw at it. Novel has a different idea for it: make it look even tougher for the owners who rarely take it off the pavement.
The Japanese company has released its first body kit for the GX 550, and there are no suspension lifts or off-road upgrades here. Instead, it focuses entirely on the exterior, adding a few pieces that give the big Lexus a sportier appearance.

Up front, Novel adds a fiberglass chin spoiler to the factory bumper. It costs $1,560, including free ground shipping across the lower 48 states. Behind the front wheels, new fender ducts cost another $930. They don’t do anything mechanically, but they add a little visual drama.

The rear gets two more pieces. There’s a $1,500 under-spoiler that sits over the factory bumper, plus vertical ducts beside the taillights for $930. Together, they make the rear look wider and lower. Novel has, however, left the factory tow bar cover untouched, so one of the GX’s less attractive details is still very much on display.

If you want to go further, Novel has a few other parts for the GX 550. Its catalog includes pod-style air filters, new wheel nuts, a Sard racing steering wheel, and a plug-and-play audio upgrade for the factory system.

The upgraded Lexus GX 550 can crawl over rough terrain, but plenty of owners will spend most of their time in traffic and parking lots. For that crowd, Novel’s recipe is simple: leave the capable bits alone and make the thing look a little meaner.
