Chery Stockman Gets Rugged Makeover With Ironman 4x4 Accessories

A factory pickup is one thing. A truck ready for a week in the Australian outback is another. Chery wants the Stockman to handle both, so it has teamed up with local off-road specialist Ironman 4x4 to give its new plug-in hybrid pickup the gear Aussie adventurers actually want. Think lifted suspension, a tough canopy, extra storage, and plenty of room for a camping kit.
The Ironman Raid canopy can handle static loads of up to 380 kg (838 lbs), making it suitable for a roof tent and awning. Buyers can also add a drawer system, aluminum or glass windows, central locking, interior lights, security mesh, and side storage. A low-profile roof rack rounds things out, with space for more gear and LED lights. Basically, it’s ready for a proper camping trip, not just a quick run to the shops.

There’s more going on underneath. Ironman offers IM2.5 Monotube or Foam Cell shocks, new springs, struts, bushes, and U-bolts, all developed and tested in Australia. The suspension lift adds 50 mm (2 inches) to the Stockman’s already generous 247 mm (9.7 inches) of ground clearance. A gross vehicle mass upgrade is also planned, which could make the truck even more useful for carrying heavy gear.
The partnership goes beyond bolting on accessories. Ironman had access to Chery’s engineering data to help ensure the upgrades meet Australian Design Rules for strength, durability, and water resistance. Accessories fitted to new Stockmans at local dealerships will also carry the same seven-year manufacturer warranty. Prices haven’t been announced yet.

Under the skin, the Stockman packs a diesel plug-in hybrid setup with a 2.5-liter turbocharged engine and two electric motors, delivering 469 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. It also gets triple locking differentials, a low range, and a 34 kWh battery offering up to 60 miles of electric driving. Towing capacity reaches 3,495 kg (7,705 lbs), while payload tops out at 765 kg (1,686 lbs).
The Stockman is due in Australia in February 2027, where it’ll take on established names like the Ford Ranger and Toyota Hilux. It has the hardware on paper, but the real test will come when it hits the dirt.
