This Skoda Superb Is A 720 HP Wagon With Audi Muscle In Disguise

Although the Superb is Skoda's most popular vehicle, this particular iteration is everything but average. Interestingly, this pre-facelift Superb, a car from an earlier generation with a wagon body type, has an Audi fingerprint under its hood.

Now, this Skoda Superb has five cylinders, although Skoda only offered it with four. It uses a 2.5 TFSI engine from an RS3 Audi, which in its factory configuration produces around 400 horsepower. This is a significant increase of 120 hp above the most powerful Superb that Skoda had to offer for this generation.

A midsize wagon that was once ordinary is now a veritable rocket thanks to the inline-five's insane 720 horsepower and 612 lb-ft of torque. On an unrestricted stretch of the German Autobahn, the family estate was driven hard, reaching 62 mph in under 3.32 seconds.

Not only that, but it managed a 0-124 mph (0–200 km/h) run in 9.38 seconds and a 62–124 mph (100–200 km/h) sprint in 6.06 seconds. Meanwhile, this beast finished the quarter-mile in 10.77 seconds. At full throttle, it was on the verge of passing the elusive 300 km/h (186 mph) barrier. After reaching 260 km/h (162 mph), the speedometer abruptly stopped working and would not go any higher.

When pollution restrictions were less strict, Skoda offered the Superb with more than four cylinders. V6 gasoline and diesel engines were available in the first generation after the Volkswagen Group seized control, but a 3.6-liter VR6 was available in the subsequent generation. In the 1930s and 1940s, the first Superbs were available with a range of inline-six engines and a large 4.0-liter V8.

As a reminder, the newly released 2024 Skoda Superb has a maximum power output of 265 horsepower for the most powerful model.
