The Twisted TBug Is The Coolest Beetle You’ll Never See In A Museum

UK-based tuner Twisted, best known for reimagining classic Land Rovers, is now turning heads with a totally different kind of project: a custom-built off-road Volkswagen Beetle called the "TBug."
Each TBug starts life as a vintage Beetle from the 1960s to the 1980s. From there, Twisted gives it a serious off-road makeover. Think long-travel suspension, BF Goodrich all-terrain tires, a beefed-up chassis, and upgraded brakes. The tuned engine makes just under 80 hp, but that’s still nearly double the original output and more than enough.
Visually, it’s got that unmistakable Baja Bug vibe: lifted stance, exposed wheels, and a back-to-basics attitude. Twisted says the goal was to “capture the honest simplicity of the original Baja Bugs,” and it looks like they nailed it.

What makes the TBug really special, though, is that no two will be the same. Every build is tailored to the buyer’s personal specs: colors, trim, options, you name it. It’s all about custom fun with a classic twist.

The Twisted TBug will make its official debut on May 29 at Twisted’s new London showroom. With no signs of Volkswagen reviving the Beetle anytime soon, this might just be the coolest way to relive the Bug’s golden years.
