The Customized C8 Corvette By Callaway Will Be Spectacular

Callaway Cars debuted the Chevrolet Silverado Signature Edition earlier this year, a supercharged version of the full-size pickup with a higher output of 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. The vehicle maker produces high-performance variants of General Motors vehicles, and it is famed for its redesigned Corvettes, such as the renowned Callaway Twin Turbo Corvette.

We've been curious as to when Chevrolet Corvette Stingray will receive the Callaway touch. Reeves Callaway, the company's founder, acknowledged to Autoweek that Callaway has huge ambitions for the C8 Corvette, but it will be a long time before we see the results of its efforts.

We won't see a Callaway version of the new C8 Corvette until next year, according to the founder of the company. At Callaway's shop in Old Lyme, Connecticut, four Corvette Stingrays are currently receiving "some type of positive manifold pressure." This, like most of Callaway's innovations, hints that the modified Corvette would utilize forced induction.

"From a product standpoint, we need to make sure that everything is fitted into the product strategy correctly," Callaway added. "And what this means for us is that we won't be able to compete with any of GM's models; instead, we'll have to be a supplement to whatever model we pick. Whatever model makes more sense, we want consumers to always think of the standard product as improved by Callaway's approach, even if we don't want to force them to choose between a Callaway and a General Motors standard version. We pick the best-performing model and make changes to it."

The naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 engine of the Corvette Stingray produces 495 hp in factory form. The new Z06, which will sit atop the Stingray, will be driven by a 5.5-liter naturally aspirated flat-plane-crank V8 with over 600 hp. The new ZR1 will be the top of the line, with a twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 producing up to 850 hp. Callaway's customized C8 Corvette is expected to produce at least 600 hp.

As we wait for Callaway to offer more power to the Corvette Stingray, the tuner currently sells new wheels for the mid-engine sports car and will soon provide an aero kit that includes a rear wing and front spoiler.
