Tesla Model S Gets a "Dark Knight" Makeover by Unplugged Performance

The electric vehicle tuning experts at Unplugged Performance have now turned their attention to Tesla's Model S Plaid, transforming it into a sleek machine known as the "Dark Knight." This customized vehicle is part of the company's Model S-APEX series, aiming to combine the already impressive speed and power of the Model S Plaid with a high-end, hypercar aesthetic.

Previously, Unplugged Performance made headlines by restoring a damaged Tesla Model 3 into a formidable time-attack vehicle. Much like that project, the Dark Knight Model S is rich in aerodynamic and performance enhancements, proving that beauty and utility can co-exist in the electric vehicle world.

Unlike many automakers who prioritize aerodynamics to maximize range, Unplugged Performance has a different philosophy.

The company concentrates more on reducing drag to enhance the vehicle's speed. The S-APEX Dark Knight features a widebody kit consisting of 19 prepreg carbon fiber components, including a longtail spoiler co-designed with Koenigsegg Advanced Manufacturing and a first-ever Autobahn front carbon diffuser that minimizes lift.

The aerodynamics are further refined by carbon rocker panels, while 21-inch lightweight UP-03 forged monoblock wheels provide stable road contact.

The interior of the car is equally lavish, adorned with Banbu vegan leather in a striking Serrano Red hue, covering everything from the seats and door panels to the dashboard and console.

Mechanically, the Dark Knight retains its original 1,020-horsepower motor-battery setup. However, performance is improved via a lowering kit, an adjustable rear sway bar, and billet aluminum control arms. Carbon-ceramic brakes cooled by a specialized carbon fiber brake duct system and UP x Ohlins TTX coilovers (available in two-way or four-way Pikes Peak Spec) enhance the driving experience, which is rounded off with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.

While the entire package promises to transform your Model S Plaid into a thing of beauty, individual upgrades are available at a steep cost, such as the trunk spoiler priced at $3,495.
