New Brabus Rocket 900 Requires Extra Paint Protection

As Brabus's incredible Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4Matic+-based Rocket 900 is limited to just 10 units, its first customer recently visited a UK specialist to safeguard its paint finish. The owner of this Brabus Rocket 900 submitted it to Topaz Detailing to have a satin paint protection film installed after it had been painted in a conventional gloss black finish.

However, even while a satin black wrap would look great on a vehicle such as this luxury sedan, it would not give the same level of protection as a genuine PPF. 

There are still some of the original glossy portions on the outside. All of the carbon-fiber parts such as the wheel covers and the front splitter, grille, rear diffuser, and rear wing have a glossy finish. The roof is gloss black as well. Topaz then felt it necessary to apply paint protection film to internal components that would otherwise be exposed to typical mechanical damage.

Brabus upped the twin-turbo V8's capacity from 4.0 to 4.5 liters to create the Rocket 900, fitted a special billet crankshaft, new piston rods, larger forged pistons, innovative turbochargers, a redesigned forced induction setup, and a carbon-fiber ram-air inlet. Brabus Rocket 900 now produces 888 hp at 6,200 rpm and 922 lb-ft (1,250 Nm) of torque at 2,900 rpm thanks to a reworked ECU and stainless steel exhaust.
