After unveiling the bodykit for the SWAE, 1016 Industries, the aftermarket specialist unveiled an impressive McLaren 720S. This supercar has a 3D-printed carbon fiber bodykit. Dropping the usual front end bumper, the team replaced it with a wider and lower. Compared to the one on the stocked 720S, this new bumper also has sharp fins on both side to facilitate the supercar's aerodynamics. The carbon fiber hood is a perfect complementary for the car.

The door's skins are the original ones from the standard 720S. Meantime, both front and rear fenders were flared and add to the road presence of the car, and the airintakes were featured directly behind the doors. The aftermarket specialist added also whhels with turquoise center caps and inner rims, black spokes, and carbon fiber edges with special cutouts in the shape of the McLaren badge. The rear end features new diffuser and a towering wing.

Almost all of the carbon fiber parts of the bodykit were handcrafted, the 3D printed components are within the  bumper's structures, aerodynamic ducting, and in linkages of the rear wing. The extra additions of the carbon-fiber parts increases the 720S' weight up to 268 lbs.

The team's main goal with this 000 720S was the chance of exploiting the auto design trough the 3D printing and carbon fiber processes. according to Peter Northorp, founder of 1016 Industries, the applications for the processes are almost unlimited and building this 000 prototype is the product of several years of extensive field testing and design validation. A thorough study of the 3D printing is extremely importantfor this future technologies and allows engineers to understand and apply the quality and technique for each printed part.
