JMS Has A Sporty Upgrade For The Forgotten Ford S-Max Minivan

The German tuner JMS breathes new life into the once-overlooked Ford S-Max, transforming the minivan into a sporty sensation. Opting for a pre-facelifted model, JMS brings out the sporty side of the ST-Line trim, giving the S-Max a bit of a dynamic flair.

Highlighting the S-Max's reputation as a driver-friendly option in its segment, JMS selects a sleek set of Dragoon 20-inch wheels from Barracuda Racing. The high-gloss silver finish of these wheels creates a striking contrast against the minivan's black body, and the low-profile Hankook tires measuring 245/35 ZR20 not only enhance visual appeal but also contribute to the S-Max's road-hugging capabilities.

JMS ditches the stock suspension in favor of H&R lowering springs, bringing the minivan closer to the ground and enhancing on-road dynamics. The exterior retains its ST-Line bodykit, featuring bumper and side-skirt add-ons, a discreet diffuser, and dual exhaust pipes, maintaining a seamless blend of sportiness and practicality.

Under the hood, specific details about this particular S-Max remain undisclosed. However, it's noteworthy that the most potent variant of the Ford S-Max housed a turbocharged 2.5-liter engine sourced from the Focus ST hot hatch, delivering an impressive 238 hp and 254 lb-ft of torque. This powerplant enabled the minivan to sprint from 0–62 mph in 8.4 seconds.

Sharing its underpinnings with the discontinued Mondeo sedan and the Edge SUV, the Ford S-Max, along with its slightly larger sibling, the Galaxy, made its debut in 2015 and received a subtle facelift in 2019. Despite introducing hybrid versions in 2021, dwindling sales led to Ford's decision to bid farewell to both the S-Max and the Galaxy without replacement models, concluding production in April 2023.
