Hondata Discovered A Lot Of Extra Power In The 11th-Generation Honda Civic

Hondata, the world-famous Honda tuners, have made their spell on the 11th-generation Civic, offering significant increases with simply an ECU reflash.

Many current cars with forced induction are built with extra power “hidden” to meet emission levels or fuel economy restrictions. Reconfiguring the ECU, often known as reflashing, can generate some if not all of the extra power in these circumstances, and Hondata has done just that with the new Civic.

They did the same thing with the prior turbocharged Civic, and given how close the current one's engine is, it was only a question of time before they mastered it. They drove a Civic EX equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-four engine. It had roughly 1,000 miles (1,609 km) on the speedometer and on Hondata's dyno, it produced 162 hp (164 PS / 121 kW) and 163 lb-ft (221 Nm) of torque on high-octane fuel.

The car was generating 196 hp (199 PS / 146 kW) and 213 lb-ft (289 Nm) to the front hubs after the reflash, an increase of 34 hp (34 PS / 25 kW) and 50 lb-ft (68 Nm) over the factory.

This info will be used to improve the newest FlashPro, a consumer good that connects to your car's OBD-II diagnostics port and acts as a plug-and-play tune. We're looking forward to seeing what Hondata can do with the next Si and Type R, especially since this is the EX.
