Ford Model A Becomes Hot Wheels’ Legends Tour Finalist

After the lockdown during the pandemics, all offline events are happily greeted by everybody. This is also the case of Miami’s Legends Tour stop on July 10, where one specific enthusiast got shortlisted and goes straight to the semi-finals. 

Ray Aquit from Florida has been named a winner by a panel of judges. Eric Han, Hot Wheels’ main designer, was in the panel and he specifically liked a 1929 Ford Model A, also known as Loosie. The car is more than a 20s exponent – it is a fair representation of what Hot Wheels stands for: a modified two-doors vehicle with a dominant personality. 

Ray Aquit says that he created the model by severely modifying the donor car, with the body getting shortened by 4.5 inches. The steel dashboard was taken from a 1940 Ford pickup, while the chassis has been custom-made. Also, the roof pillars got 8-inches shorter, and the passengers are now enjoying a power-operated sunroof. The wheels are 20 inches.

The tour will be looking for the next Hot Wheels catalog addition throughout the USA, the next stop being scheduled for August 7 in Detroit. The big finale, the global one, will be happening on November 13. The winner will become a Hot Wheels 1/64 scale model that will become available for buying worldwide.
